4.5 miles so far and about 45 minutes of biking. On track so far, but the weather tomorrow is looking seriously nasty.

Sort of. I'm in Northern California, which borrows rain from Oregon and Washington over the winter. I did about a mile today, so slightly under target but close enough to make up for. (The rain looks really pretty, but the path I usually run on tends to flood when we get too much rain. It hasn't so far, but it's definitely heading that way.) Thanks for the support!

That includes long runs from 2 weekend (last Sunday and this Saturday) so I'm not as far ahead as it might seem!

0.8 mi. (I meant to do a full mile and change that time but gave up when my legs started hurting. I also meant to do more sessions but I don't know what happened with that.)

Runs slower or do run/walks - if your legs are hurting, you're doing too much/running too fast. Run/walking is a great way of becoming a runner (or a run/walker!) for us slower, less motivated types.

I got on the treadmill last night for a mile exactly. So I'm not doing too horribly!

*high-fives you*

You are definitely not doing "too horribly" - that's WONDERFUL, after having a painful earlier attempt. GO YOU!

10 miles, 0 active hours. I started a new medication on Feb 2nd, and it's really kicking my ass. If things don't improve in the next week or so, I may decide the cure is worse than the issue I'm trying to treat, so, yeah. Not getting all the active time I'd like to, but I have excuses! ;-D

YAY!!! SO glad to hear the ankle is cooperating.
blnchflr: Umm… Yeah. I meant to do that. (I meant to do that.)

[personal profile] blnchflr 2015-02-08 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not, I'm bad at Englishing - I'm in the process of making it worse by running on it and doing yoga, instead of stopping exercising altogether, which is probably what would help it.
linaelyn: (hugs from kittens)

[personal profile] linaelyn 2015-02-08 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh! You're not bad at Englishing, I'm bad at reading coherently before my first morning cuppa! I see now what you were saying in the first comment.

Anyhow, I'm terribly sorry that you're still hurting. I know from personal experience that it's tough to find the balance of doing what you love (exercise) and letting your body heal up!
blnchflr: Umm… Yeah. I meant to do that. (I meant to do that.)

[personal profile] blnchflr 2015-02-08 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
And noone ever got better from exercising less :) ! I freely admit I'm having a go of it right now - I'm signed up for a trail race I really want to do and don't expect to do again, and … will rest my ankle after that. It's not a clever plan.
linaelyn: (horizon by hope)

[personal profile] linaelyn 2015-02-08 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like a cunning plan to me! Good luck with the trail race.

Since I went over the ocean on Monday, I didn't get to do anything while I was trying to get over the jetlag ;)

Will go out for a run in an hour or so when the temps have risen a bit.

The jet lag issue is one that concerns me a bit for Edinburgh. I hope I'm able to function on race day!
franzi1981: (Default)

[personal profile] franzi1981 2015-02-08 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It takes me about a week to get over the jetlag from east coast => europe.

However, I also find that it can be over quicker than that when I force myself into a normal rhythm (i.e. don't go to bed before 9:30/10pm, don't get up later than 7/7:30am). It makes it harder the first two-three days, but easier overall :)

Thanks for the tip! I am strongly considering shifting my sleep schedule to match Scotland, the week before I get on the plane. Of course, that might mean not seeing my family that week, which may be too high a price. :-}

Aw, bummer on the back issues! My dad's had excellent success with the steroid injecting thing for his back issues. Hope you experience the same. :-)
ell: (Default)

[personal profile] ell 2015-02-08 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
oh no :-( I have a ex husband friend who had serious back issues and the steroid injections would really help him, but he combined it with physical therapy and chiropractic along with therapeutic massage to keep it feeling good for the longest time between issues. (He had a couple of blown-out disks in the L3-4 area)

Sorry to hear that the back issues are back! Hope the steroid is effective.

35 miles for last week and 12 hours aikido. I'm already behind this week as I made a command decision to skip today's long run in favor of blanket forting.

In aikido news, I was at a seminar today where three different senseis (including mine) each got 45 minutes to show the group some of their favorite stuff. It was a nice group, most of whom I didn't know, except for my sensei and the other 3 people from my dojo. What was cool is that I actually got called up as uke (person who does the attack and subsequently does the falling/rolling) by each of the 3 instructors for an uke trifecta :-) While not a huge deal, this hopefully means that people like my aikido enough to feel comfortable chucking me around, even if they don't know me. I had fun :-)

In running news, I cannot wait for this training cycle to be over and it's barely started. Usually, I really like running but this time around it's hard to motivate, feels like a slog and I'm always tired with sore muscles. The weather is pretty consistently just around freezing and it rains a lot lately which might be contributing. Anyway, I want to like running again and I'm hopeful that spring helps :-)

Blanket forting FTW!!!! <3! And yay for Aikido being a bright spot.

It's ok if the doldrums between Groundhog Day and the Spring Equinox are a lull in your training. In the grand scheme of things, it's ok. Just keep your body moving, often enough to keep your mind happy. Spring will help!
