So, how is training going? What are your immediate/current goals? Any longer-term goals you're working towards?

Outside that, my current goals are (still) to:
Looong-term goals are to:
- Participate in a ½-marathon (alternating running and walking), finishing in 2h 35m or less.
- Run 10 k in 1 hour or less.
Considering my laziness, I'm not really sure how realistic those are :oDno subject
Good luck with your goals!

My next goals are:
1) A decent time in the Rim Rock Marathon in 4 weeks - this is hard to quantify because it's a mountain race with serious elevation gain and loss.
2) A spring half-marathon time under 1:40.
3) Boston Marathon, goal time somewhere around 3:30.
Next summer I would like to run a 50K and maybe a 50-miler in the fall. Maybe.
I'll happily take turns with you in posting these!

Long term goal: RUN EVEN MOAR. And faster. And by faster I mean...move my shuffle up to a proper jog.

Gah, 50 k, not to think of 50 miles - I'll never get there :o)
It'd be great to have someone to take turns with - I guess when I post I can't at this point let the comments sit there without replying to them, but I don't want the posts to be a me/commenters thing. Ideally I'd like for everyone to cheer each other on, but if people just want a place to post their current goals, and aren't bothered about encouragement, that's fine, too, and I'll try and let go of the "leave no comment behind" mentality for these posts :oD
So, you got Nov 2nd?

And if you had run this race and finished in 2:35, you would still have finished ahead of more than 300 people. And that doesn't even count the people who finished after the course cut-off at 3:30.

My immediate goal is my second half-marathon in one week's time, in which I would like to not be slower than I was last year (2 hours 4 min). I've been under a lot of pressure with work and haven't really put the hours into running that I wanted, plus had some problems with calf pain, so going under two hours may have to wait for a local half-marathon in the new year. I did a very slow 10k race six weeks ago (4 minutes over my last time) for no apparent reason, which made me wonder if I'd just completely stalled, but managed an 18k training run three weeks ago at 6 min per k so am hopefully reasonable for stamina.
My main problem at the moment is the fact that the race is in the city I used to live in, and scheduling catch-ups with everyone and the race itself is creating conflicts!

Good luck in your half marathon! I also suffer from calf pain and can recommend 1) stretching by standing on steps and alternately going on your toes and letting your heels drop below the step, 2) writing the alphabet with your feet when you are just sitting around (like, at the computer :-) and 3) icing.

I have looked at the Boston qualification standards and would have to be much, much older or much, much faster to ever get near them - go you!
