Long-term goals 2010
Heya, 2010 is about one third done now and I am wondering what your goals for this year are when it comes to running - if you have any. Any particular distance or a race you want to be able to do? Maybe a half or full marathon? The first 5K? Running in some country you are traveling to?

By mid-June I want to have completed my Couch-to-5K program (I am in week 3 now, so theoretically I could be done by the start of June), made running a part of my life, and want to take place in my university's 5K.
By August I want to be able to run for an hour.
By the end of the year I want to have completed a 10K.

Sub-22 minute 5K
Sub-1:35 half marathon
Sub-3:30 marathon
I really want to encourage everyone though no matter how small their goals might seem in comparison. I remember when my goal was just to finish a 10K without stopping.

This week I'm running about 12 miles all together. I'd like to get up to about 15 miles per week, and I can probably do that within the next month or two. I don't know if I want to do more than that.
(I feel a sad lack of an athletic icon, should probably go looking for one since I have so many spare icon slots here on DW)

So realistically, I want to keeping running regularly - and participate in as many races as is feasible (because of how far I live from everything/finances - hopefully at least 2), to make sure I keep running regularly.
Being able to run 5.5K in 35 minutes would be excellent.

With that said, some of my less number based goals involve doing more running outside and learning to pace myself better when doing so.
I'd like to be running 5K within the next few weeks, and then I'd like to focus on both speeding that up to under half an hour and then slowly pushing to 10K.
Knee problems permitting, I'd like to be able to run a half marathon. at some point in the future, but I'd rather set a more concrete goal when I'm settled in Boston.

Less major goal - push up my distance, so that 12-15k runs become my mental "standard run", rather than 8-10k (it used to be 4-6k, so I know I can increase it!).
