After I had to stop because of an untreated arthritis flare, I finally got treatment and could start my starting-to.run thing again. I did day 1 of week 2 of the Couch-to-5k program yesterday and it went very well! I have also taken up some upper-body/core strength training to supplement the running.
The next week will hopefully see me doing day 2 and day 3 of that week (Tuesday and Thursday) and start week 3 (Sunday).
I finally managed two weeks of 4+ runs per week, which was great, but I got a bit carried away with increasing my mileage and now my hip flexor is acting up again. I had trouble with it about 2 years ago and kept running on it, which meant it took a long time to sort out when it finally got too painful to keep going; this time I have been slightly more sensible, and so I saw the physio today, got some exercises/stretches and instructions about how much less to run this week (no sprints, 5k max).
Will check back in with her in a week and see how things are going!
I got 2 really good midweek runs in, missed my long run again yesterday, but have hopes for doing it this afternoon instead :-)
I've started running in the mornings and that seems to be a decent plan for the moment. I'm on vacation this week, so I expect that my running will be pretty uneven, but you never know :-) friday after this one, i am running the GW Parkway 10 miler in Alexandria.
I had a good week. After one easy run and one disastrous run in which I tried to do sprint intervals and failed, I decided to try a 10K for my Saturday long run. I did it! Ran the whole thing, and ran it at my usual pace instead of going slower like I expected. It's the longest I've ever run before, which makes me pretty happy to have done it.
This was a pretty good week. I ran on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and did my first 5K race on Sunday! I had a harder time with the 5K than I'd expected but I did get through the whole thing without stopping, so yay! Total of 10.5 miles for the week, and shooting for 11.5 this next week.
Two 5-mile runs, and 8 miles yesterday. I'm about a week behind in my training schedule for the half-marathon on May 1, because I've been sick so much this spring, but if I can stay healthy I think I have a decent shot of being able to run the whole race.
Monday, Wednesday-made slow progress on Week 1 of Podrunner. Friday-quit early and did not met my goal for the day.
I'm getting tired of hearing the same limited mixes. Today, I had 30 minutes and a desire to move past Week 1. I finally got through the entire interval set. My goal for this week is to get through all of Week 1, and be ready to start Week 2 next Monday.
Managed one 5.6K run - that's all. It's been really cold and windy here, and I have my dear ell visiting so that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. And to her.
