I ran my first 15K! Longest run yet, and I'm so proud of myself for doing it. Sub-01:40:00 time, which I'm very pleased with! Race report.
I have a half coming up next month, and right now, suffering from my usual post-race runner's high, it seems completely doable, especially with my conservative goal of 02:30:00.
I just need to remember to train for it, *taps nose*.
I am getting back on! Completed week 4 of couch-to-5k yesterday, though by doing a slightly different run than in the program. I got myself a Garmin Forerunner 110 on Saturday and wanted to see how far I could run. Apparently, 10 minutes (about 1.2K) and another 10 minutes (about 1.1K) after a three minute walk. my total, including a long warm-up and cool-down walking to/from the park was
Distance: 4.37 km Time: 45:17 Avg Pace: 10:22 min/km
I'm happy to hear you're getting back into it! I remember you were busy with moving (I think?) and things. I've gotten out of the habit of running for long periods before, and always felt ashamed and found it extremely difficult to get back into it - that was before I finally learned run/walk intervals are not only ok for beginners, they're really good!
…Just jumped over to your journal for a peek - you swam 3K? Well done! My calves cramp just thinking about that!
It does sound kind of confusing, but I have similar experiences over shorter distances, and probably someone with actual knowledge on this will jump in and lay it out :)
…I still aim at doing my half in the vicinity of a 11:30 rather than a 9:40 pace, because the latter ain't gonna happen :D

And heh, yeah, I really enjoy swimming. It's strange to think that I can swim at a decent speed further than I can jog.
