I'm still babying my healing stress fracture. I am slowly ramping up my running, although most of it is on the trails to give me a softer surface, and therefore quite slow. Up to 27 miles last week, hoping to do the same or slightly better this week.
I am pretty sure I'm going to sign up for The Other Half Marathon in Moab, UT in mid-October. It's a scenic race, there is free beer at the end, my friends do it, and my husband will be off hunting so I might as well. I just have to convince myself that it will NOT be a PR attempt, and to take it easy, rather than racing it.
I just ran The Leading Ladies Marathon in South Dakota in August. It is probably the most beautiful race I've ever run. 26 miles down a scenic canyon.
I'm going to run the Philly Half this weekend. I've got the West Virgina Freedom Marathon on Oct 1. Then Richmond in November -- which in theory is my target race. And then Rehoboth Beach Marathon with a couple of friends in Dec.
The part of the foot that was broken doesn't hurt while I run (although it tends to ache afterward) - it's all the muscles in my legs that are no longer used to running. Plus it's depressing to be so much slower than I used to be, for the same heart rate.
Not being able to run for a while must have sucked. You'll get it back, though. I know you.
My problem is that 10 marathons in a year doesn't leave any time to train to be faster. I've been pretty consistent with my times on the races I've raced. But they are slower that I'd like.
Last week I was horribly sick and had to do some serious rejiggering of the current training plan to try to get back onto schedule. Apparently, I can't run with stomach cramps.
But then Sunday I had a nice 5 km PR (race report soon, I hope) and I'm about to head out for today's planned 8 miler :-)
The next BIG THING is the Frankfurt Marathon on October 30th :-)
Not even remotely. I'm using Hal Higdon's Intermediate I plan and last week I was sick enough that I missed my 18 miler so I switched my "rest" week this week with last week and so have an 18 this week, a 20 next week, another rest week, another 20 and that's it for the long runs. So in a way, I haven't even started the hard part of the schedule yet...but Hal hasn't let me down before so hopefully my little bobble in the middle here will even out...
I'm still slowly working my way back into things but twice in the last week I ran for 30 minutes, which is the longest I've done since June. I've been doing fairly well at running a few times a week, at least once with a group, and enjoying that company more than I have in the past.
I am starting getting bored with the park by where I live, but feel guilty driving to get to some other park. We'll see how that goes.
I should probably sign up for a 5k. I could use that motivation. I think I'll go looking for one now - hey, an excuse to put off my work, yay!

I had plans to run a total of 60 km in September, and started out with 5 km, and then … I'm not sure what happened. Stressful time at work and general laziness? I ran/walked 10 km last Tuesday, and haven't run since D:
It'd be really nice, if I could make myself go for a run tonight, get back into it.
I don't have any races scheduled, but hope to find a local one and run soon!
I signed up for a 5K on October 1st! It's at the park near where I live!
My city is not especially bike- or pedestrian friendly so I've been hesitant about running or biking not-in-a-park, but I could try it one of these days. I did try biking to work a couple weeks ago and got a flat tire that I haven't gotten around to fixing, so I would need to take care of that first.
Not in my world - I have 15 days to run 46 km; seeing as running 50 km in all of June was huge for me, I'm not going to be able to run close to the same in half the time.

I'm developing something in my heel. I'm hoping ice and ibuprofen will take care of it.

Ice ice baby! Or maybe you need new shoes.

Can you RUN to another park? Bike to one? Run not-in-a-park?
