What's up [community profile] runners?

It's another beautiful week. What did you accomplish? What are your plans?

Good plan. I switched to counting distance, I think after I finished the c25k program but maybe it was in the middle, and I've found it a lot more satisfying to have done a certain number of miles than minutes (although lately I've had to switch back to minutes because I've been traveling and the routes are unfamiliar).

I feel like going by distance instead of time has really helped me too. Right now, I'm not really worried about pace; it just feels so good to finish and know I've gone as far as I wanted to!

I'm traveling this month and was having a hard time of it, but this week I unexpectedly landed in a house one block away from a great running trail. The weather's been wonderful and I've had a lot of time, and I got in about 16 miles over four days in the week. I feel really great about this, even though it isn't quite as much as I was doing at home.

I don't expect to get as much running in this week because I'm leaving for another city tonight and expect to be busier, but this week has been great.

My knee issues are much better thanks to a new pair of shoes. :D

I finished week 5 and totally managed that 20 minute run! Whoot!

Starting week 6. I'm not going to switch to distance, as a I saw some people mention here, but I am going to start trying to run daily and on my non C25K runs, I'm going to do intervals with sprints to try and get my speed up.

I'd really like to be able to run a 5 K myself, but at least for the first one, I don't care what my time is, just that I don't walk any of it!

I'm going to take it easy on my "off" days. Just run enough to feel it. A friend that I'm running with went to the doc, who said, "Go every day! Get addicted. Love it. Never ever stop."

So, I feel like that's pretty good advice. But I'll keep an eye on my knee!

Congrats on effective new shoes! I got a new pair two weeks ago, and they're definitely helping with the big toe pain I was getting.

I got new shoes, but then I got sick...so didn't get to break them in right away.

But I ran four miles last night and just felt really great during and afterwards, so I'm hoping I can continue with that and get up to five soon.

Oh, and I'm loving the new shoes and hoping to start joining the Thursday run club at the shop where I bought them.

The place where I got my shoes also does a run club that I'm eyeing. Once I get up to finishing a 5K, I think I'll join them.

Let me know what you think? I can'[t decide if it'd be inspirational or depressing. *lol*

Hill runs! Two in the last week, one the week before, and man, I am so unfit on hills at the moment. Fortunately I can justify stopping at the top to look at the view.

This weekend I am buying a puppy. I suspect this may impact on my running somewhat in the short term :)

Skipped the Wednesday run because I was still recovering from that mild heat stroke. Did the Friday swim and the Sunday run as normal, and both went well.

Gah, yeah. It did cool down a bit on the weekend, but the last two days were extremely hot again. Won't go running until after 20.00h tonight, probably even later.
