March not-check-in
Hi Runners!
Hope you're having a great March so far! Mine sucks. I've lost my will to run. No I have no idea why. I've never been this unmotivated for marathon training since I started six years ago!
So tell me something good about your running today, why you do it, why you like it, whatever makes you happy when you run.*
* or just feel free to complain (about the weather, about how your favorite shoes have been discontinued, anything you want)

Which is as far as I've been able to run since I had inner-ear surgery last May. So go me!

I like running, because it's easy to do logistics-wise - I can do it right outside my front door. I like the feeling of accomplishment, because for many years I never believed I could be "athletic".
I may not like it so much come Sunday at 20 km with 5 km to go :) D:
ETA: And my fave shoe totes have been discontinued, may you rest in peace, Nike Zoom Structure 13 <3

(How did it go on Sunday? Well, I hope!)
I am still mourning the loss of the Brooks Ghost 6. The Ghost 7 is really uncomfortable and I haven't found a suitable long run replacement as yet.

I just don't wanna.
I'm doing a bunch of core exercising and something my niece suggested called a "thigh slimming challenge" (HA!! It's bulked up both of our thighs really nicely, just like I told her it would.) And the furniture sanding project is making any upper body work... superfluous.
But I'm not running.
I figure it's a phase, and I'll grow out of it. Being unmotivated just happens sometimes, and for me, it often means that I just need to let go and do something else that I *am* motivated to do. My advice to you: follow your bliss. Even if it means you're not in great shape for the next marathon. You can always blow it off on the Day-of-Race, if it's just your own race, and if it's the relay? I have it on good authority that your teammates are VERY understanding, and are there for the teamness much more than the racing. We can be Team Runs-Not-So-Much! :-)

I'm doing a lot of aikido and that will have to do for now. Maybe when the weather improves I'll feel better about all this.
(But there might be an actual reason. I was at the doc for bloodwork last week because this whole feeling tired and unmotivated all the time has gone on long enough and we needed to rule out all the other things it could be. She said it was all fine, but then at the last minute ordered more iron tests given my past history. Then I got a call that I need to come in and see here this week again. The appointment is tomorrow and I will find out then if my iron levels have dropped again into the danger zone. So there might be an actual physical thing that I can do to fix it :-) )

Despite the improved weather, I feel like it has been taking a little extra effort to get outside and run. In the worst of the winter I had to plan carefully around weather and darkness to fit in my runs - now I can run almost anytime and it gets easier to put it off for no good reason.
Best wishes for regaining your motivation!

And congrats on your longest run ever!
