I think you really need more than twice a week to improve past a certain level. The most minimal running programs generally have 3x, and of course mo running mo betta. Although with multisport it's probably hard to make the time for it all.

I asked a question to my tri club forum recently about the training plan and its running component, and was basically told that we're not running much because it's the activity that's hardest on the body. They want people to build up aerobic fitness on the swim and the bike and then work on getting faster with the run. So eventually we will be running more. And I get the theory, yeah, but I'm starting so far behind on running that I worry the plan isn't really designed for people like me but people whose "slow" pace is 11:00m/mi.
