As of this evening, I'm at 44.6 miles - and so is [personal profile] ell!

(Actually, she's probably at a little more, since she's the one keeping track of these things whereas I just go by what it says on the training plan :)

4 km! I went for a run! I didn't get very far. But I went! :P

:-)
(technically, we're at 46.07, but who's counting...) We keep running over the plan mileage by .1 to .4 miles...

(I kind of stopped giving blood these days...but I remember how it would suck the energy out of me. I also used to pass out regularly because of somewhat low blood pressure and low iron levels. That was always amusing...) You're still having a great running month despite the weather!

With today's run (ugh, speedwork) I'm up to 89 miles for the month. Last week was 48.5. It's been beautiful weather here so easy to get the miles in, though we need the snow that we're not getting.

I went skiing on Friday in 5" of fresh snow from Thursday night - and it continued to snow while I was there, the resort claimed 3" more - but both on Thursday and on Saturday I ran in bright sunshine in shorts and short sleeves!

A journey of a thousand miles etc etc. Each little run adds up!

Aw, bummer on the weather. I feel almost like I'm cheating, with such beautiful sunny weather in mid-January.

11.5 more miles, so 15 miles total. I had a few days of decent weather, which was a nice change!

Ran another 1 mi. Still having major asthma issues from the cold I had--had to stop twice while I ran it, and that was yesterday--so going to try slow half-miles until I stop feeling wheezy all the time.

In good news, I got a sports bra I think I like? (Difficult with 32FF breasts.) It's a Panache, and I'm going to test it out for the next few days. Yay sports bra that actually fits!

I, who is not playing but likes to feel included, am at 11.1 coach approved miles. Of how many is unknown. I'm only scheduled to run once this week (recovery week) too.

I gotta say, though, I'm liking this coaching business. The workouts come and I just...do them. No thinking, no wondering what it's doing, no planning. I've not missed a day yet.

I remain less certain about how I feel about my coach's motivational skills. There have been a couple times where she's been less than helpful and basically told me to suck it up. And, you know, suck it up is totally sometimes the correct response but sometimes I need something more. Dunno. We're only going into our 4th week together, so we'll see how it goes.

Go you! I did not get up at 6 to run in the dark today. I'm going to go at lunch when it's light because I'm actually a wimp...

Good luck with the asthma issues - I have friends who struggle with them.

I assume this must be a triathlon coach? Because running only once in a week sounds rather minimal even for a recovery week, but presumably you're doing other stuff.

I have not tried run/walking in the past year or so--I know it's a good idea, and I think it's how I first got into running, but I'm too impatient right now! Heh. So currently I'm going with the tried and true "stubbornly try to run a mile, stop counting mileage when you walk, start upping mileage when you can finally run a mile again without dying." :-P

And yes, omg, it is SO HARD to find sports bras that actually work for people with the normal human variation of breast and chest sizes. And most of the standard running brands pretend like we all fit within 34A-40D, the end. Urgh.

Thanks! It's not so bad normally, but I seem to be having extra fun asthma after the cold I had for the last couple of weeks. I need to just suck it up and go with my "sick" routine until all the wheezing goes away.

We've only met in person once. She lives a city over from me and so all our interaction is online through my training software (trainingpeaks) or email (every 1-2 days). I've yet to text her, but I could do that too if I wanted. She has a bunch of athletes in my area though, so she was thinking of starting up a monthly in person session, like a swim or a track session.

Oh! Yes! Sorry, I've got about 6-7 workouts a week plus yoga crap. Running is usually 2 of the workouts & this week it's just the one.

I've warned her that I am terrible at multi-workout days and I was so untrained when we started last month that there was really no need to do multiple workouts, but I am interested to see if she ends up going that route in the lead up to June. One of the reasons I got coach was that I couldn't find a half Ironman training plan that didn't have me working out twice a day 3-4 times a week and I'm just really terrible at sustaining that, both from a motivational perspective as well as a physical.

Ha! I actually had to eat my words yesterday. I went on Monday to the local running store for a "core training for runners" free class, so I was sore yesterday. I made it .5 mi, then knocked on the front door and begged my spouse to give me some sort of encouragement to go a little further (he has been running since middle school, so has had a lot of coaching at various points in his life). He said to go run mailbox to mailbox intervals on our street, running for two mailboxes and then walking to the next one.

So I ended up running/walking a total of 1.25 mi yesterday. (Said Spouse when I came in, "There's not a prize for Running The Farthest Without Walking. The prize is for exercising.")

So I am eating my humble pie and am going to try run/walk intervals--at least until my legs stop being so sore!

Yes! I have a couple of ideas - I will email you. We could also throw it out to a vote.
