After running a lot (for me) in June, I was lazy for the first half of July, then couldn't shake a flu for the most of the second half. So not enough running in July.
This weekend I ran my 3rd 5K of the year, not a PR, but the 2nd time under 30 mins, so still yay.
This coming weekend I'm signed up for a 10K. As for all my 10Ks (this'll be my … 6th? Over a 4-year period), I'm not in shape for it, but if I waited until I was in shape for a 10K, I'd never have run one.
I'm hoping this'll be the year I'll manage to run the whole way, but I should probably give myself permission beforehand to stop and walk, so it's not too crushing when I have to. I am also hoping to PR, though exactly what that is, I'm not sure, since timing was messed up on the last three 10Ks I participated in!
I have terrible luck with 10Ks, come to think of it; not sure why I keep running them O_o
Anyways, sub-01:02:00 would be very nice; sub-01:05:00 will be not too crushing.
I'm still thrilled to run 5K in less than 30 mins, so yeah :oD !
I ought to be in the best shape yet, so maybe if I make sure to start out slow, this 10K won't suck as much as the rest.
Either way, when enough time has passed, I always kid myself I enjoyed them. I wouldn't be without any of my 10Ks now, even though some of them sucked royally at the time (not least the ones where timing was messed up - seriously, wth) ^_^
Have a great race! I actually think I like 10k but that's because one of my favorite loop runs is almost exactly 10k so I tend to practice it a lot. That being said, I'm not sure I've ever run one officially except at the end of a triathlon...

Good luck on the 10K. I also find them tough.

I think I could grow to love the 10K if I got in shape for them, *g*.
