June challenge: Goals

Hello all, my apologies for being a couple of days late (mostly due to aeroplanes. Delayed ones). Please comment with your June goals (miles/km and active hours). This month, we will be running along the Hawai'ian archipelago. We shall start on the Big Island (Hawai'i) and see how close we can get to the Kure Atoll! I hope that sounds like fun.

June goals: get back into running regularly 2 to 3 times a week even when I'm "busy". And re-engage with the running communities, here and [community profile] c25k, which have proved really helpful for me but I drifted away from them.

For the purposes of running across Hawai'i (awesome plan, thank you!), I'm aiming for 40 km in June. I think I'm not going to track active hours this month.

That's pretty much my goal, too. Only problem is that I still have no device to measure my distance with, so I usually don't participate in the monthly challenges.

I don't know if this would be applicable in your situation, but when I didn't have any measuring devices I used to use WalkJogRun to draw my routes on a map. It's not as accurate as GPS, but it lets you know whether you ran 2 km or 5 km or 10 km or whatever.

I'm going to check that one out, thanks. I tried it once with another site, but it didn't work. I guess because I mostly run on dirt roads between fields and hills.

Thank you, this worked pretty well. I did enter my route three times (changed the scale for each entry), and the result was about 5km every try. The displayed time fit my experiences, too. And 5km is a nice, easy number, so yeah, I guess I'll stick with that. *g*

The "number of times I went running" is how I keep track of my training for myself, and I'll keep doing that in my personal accounting.

But with that link [personal profile] liv provided, measuring my distance became a lot easier, so I'm going to start participating in the monthly challenges, too. *g*

I can usually only go running once or twice a week
That would be counted as "very often" in my book, especially in the past six months. *wince* I really want to reach the point where once or twice a week becomes regular again, and for a longer period than a couple of months. (My motivation comes and goes...)

There is also http://www.mapmyrun.com/ though you have to log in to create routes.

Thanks! I believe that's one of the site that didn't work out for me - possibly because I didn't want to register. I'm weird like that. *g*
