Advent Day 9

As anyone who knows me on FB knows, I am never one to mindlessly pass on ridiculous memes from elsewhere... /sarcasm

...but this one from Runner's World has been up in an open tab for about a week now and I still think some of the gifs are funny, so here you go...

14 Thoughts Every Runner Has During a Cold Run

...also, it looks like some of us are going to meet in Edinburgh at the end of May! (For anyone who can't make it in 2015, I'll be happy to go back in 2016 as well)

The Hairy Haggis Relay has 4 legs:
Leg 1: The Royal Leg - 8.3 miles [personal profile] ell

Leg 2: The Cock & Pan Leg - 5.5 miles [personal profile] linaelyn (unless you want one of the longer or shorter legs - you're traveling the furthest, you get to choose)

Leg 3: The Gosford Leg - 8 miles [personal profile] temve

Leg 4: The Glory Leg - 4.4 miles - either [profile] franzi or [personal profile] dancing_serpent (it's only a mile and a quarter more than a 5 k!)

In addition, [personal profile] thalia and maybe [personal profile] blnchflr as well will be running the half marathon.

I'm going to go ahead and take the Captain position on the relay and get us registered if that's ok with everyone. I'll also start scouting out places to stay.

So...group costume ideas?

None?

I just have other trips already planned, and ought to buy an apartment instead of renting and blah blah…

Ah, yeah, those are very good reasons. :)

As long as I live around here/this specific region of Germany, renting will always be cheaper than buying. House and flat prices are so expensive, I could live in my flat and pay rent for twenty years, before I'm somewhere near the price I'd have to pay if I wanted to buy it.

If I lived in a cheap apartment, renting would be cheaper, too. But I pay a good amount for a one-room apartment with a super-crappy "bathroom". If I could find a two-room apartment with a bathroom I could live with, it'd be worth paying more - imagine to be a grown-up with a bedroom!!

Yeah, I get that. When I cut all ties with my mother I suddenly felt kinda homeless, so I spent quite a bit of time to find a good flat to make a new home for me. And that definitely included two rooms, a very nice bathroom and a great kitchen (and other nice things like fireplace, parking and balcony). It's very much worth the rent, even if it was a huge chunk out of the money I earned back then. Ten years and frequent raises later, it doesn't hurt as much any more.
