Invergarry, Strone, Lochan Lunn Da Bhra, Kinlochleven, Auchtertyre...

The place names in the British Isles have always fascinated me. For the (um, let's call it a) week of November 19th, we runners have managed to travel from the central highlands near Loch Ness, all the way to Hadrian's Wall on the border with England. Along the way, we passed through Cairngorms National Park, and Loch Lomond near Glasgow. The scenery is absolutely stunning, truly.

Blooming Rhododendrons are a welcome sight, and these particular ones smell strongly of cloves, at least to my nose:

This church in Blantyre -- the David Livingstone Memorial Church -- was particularly picturesque:

As was this larger cathedral in the city of Glasgow:

But mostly we have been rambling through the countryside that looks much like the more-bucolic areas of Tolkein's Middle Earth: (Lin had to get Tolkien in there somehow, right?)

Finally, at the end of many (often cloudy, often damp) days of running (and other exercising), we have reached Hadrian's Wall (seen via google street view, in that link).

We've made it 586.5 miles on our 1000 mile journey, as of November 19th. I'm heading out on the road here for the American Thanksgiving Holiday, so consider this the final check-in post of the month, and CHECK IN! I'll do my best to tally results and give us a taste of hiking through England, after I return on December 1st.

2) Thank you for doing this this month!
2a) Yay, I don't have to do anything :-)

3) I really want to have a DW Runners meetup in Scotland!

Ohhhh, Scotland! I want to go back. My climbing centre offers winter climbing in the Highlands courses too...

Oh well, totals for the month for me:

43km of running
10h of active time (archery and climbing)

much improved to the last few months that running :D

November totals: 100 miles and 6 active hours. Wrapped up the month with 10 slow miles today, more than I had planned, but I felt compelled to hit the 100 mile mark.

Lovely, inspiring scenery! I made a brief visit to Scotland several years ago and didn't get to see enough of the countryside.

To be honest, I'm wondering if I registered a run I didn't do (I got behind on registering untimed runs), but if I didn't cheat, I ran 71,2 km in November (if I added one run too much, I still ran 67,2 km, so made my 65 km goal), which would be second-highest mileage this year and EVER \o/

November total: 82.5 miles run and 21.5 hours of activity (mostly biking). I probably won't set a goal for December as I'll be travelling for some of it, but November's goal helped me get out there and get used to running in the dark again, images of Scotland in summer in my head, so thank you! :)
