Thursday Check in!
Whups! I forgot what day of the week it was! Sorry for the lateness (and the lack of an interesting bit of Middle-Earthiness) of this post.
In lieu of content from your lame-o cruise director here (moi), please mention in the comments anything you feel like sharing about your "active hours" time. Me, I had a lot of fun dancing at a wedding, and a lot less fun installing about 2m x 5m of lawn sod. Each was a good workout, though!
In conclusion, CHECK IN!! :-)

Favorite run: a 9-mile run in the HOT weather this week. People looked at me like I was totally nuts. (Possibly accurate.)
Total active hours for May: 7.5.
Least favorite way to exercise my core: uprooting thistles from deep mud, to prep the soil for installing the sod. At noon, in 90ºF weather. Four days later, I'm still sore from that.

However, biking to work is fun again, and I've been biking downtown to jazz choir practice once a week so that added up to a total of 19 hours of other activity already. It's almost still daylight when we're done singing so I'm riding into the post-sunset these days :)

Still no extra active hours unless 1.5 hours on a Segway count ;) Work is a bit too crazy right now :/

4.5/7 = 64% \o/ ! Walked 17 km in all on Saturday, with a birthday in the middle. Didn't think about wearing proper underwear for such a long walk, and was rewarding with some nice chafing D:

1.5 more active hours, 4 total. Nothing too exciting. Yesterday I used a Yoga Journal podcast. I find the instructor's (Jason Crandall) voice very soothing.

And 5 more hours of active time this week, I've been rambling all around my little village for the last few days, checking out where the public footpaths lead and figuring out new routes to run after the half on Sunday.

As for other activity, I'm up to 13:15 for the month, all biking, swimming, and aikido. I've done 2400 sword cuts so far :-) but my favorite two activities for the week are aikido in the mornings - I met one of the other aikido students (who happens to live across from me) at the local park at 6:30 in the morning and we go through paired weapon kata together and then work slowly on our techniques. I love doing aikido outside in the morning. He's also a really great kid (he's 20, I can call him a kid) and is going to be an amazing teacher and martial artist sometime soon. It's a shared meditation and it's really a lovely way to get the brain and body awake in the mornings.
(also, thank you for doing this challenge! You are the last thing from lame-o as a cruise director ever!)
