We made it to Weathertop!

In our first week out from Bag End, we have made a decent amount of distance, across the Shire and out to Breeland. We have crossed the Stockbrook, met up with some unsavory characters following us on the road, and Farmer Maggot has kindly given us a lift in his wagon. When one has been exercising, it's really nice to get a chance to bathe afterwards-- and so we do that in Crickhollow. :-) We passed through the tunnel under the Hedge, out of the Shire and into the Old Forest. Old Man Willow tried to slow us down, but Tom Bombadil gives him what-for, and we join him at his home for supper and a rest. Then, onward through the Barrowdowns we go, riding our ponies (stand-ins for modern bicycles, perhaps?) which I counted as "other exercise hours" in our journey. (Let's not pay a visit to the barrowwights, though, shall we? Those fellows aren't very nice.) We keep on our trails and paths and the Great East Road, until we reach a well-deserved pint (It comes in pints? I'm getting me one!) at the Prancing Pony in Bree. Not a very restful night, since we end up switching hotel rooms in the middle of the darkest hours. (Housekeeping is going to be very upset with the state of the bolsters in that first room.) Still, we manage to head out for another several-days of putting the mile markers behind us. (Unfortunately, the insects are rather pestiferous in this portion of the journey. Stupid midges!) Finally, we successfully find this stunning place to complete our first week's travels-- excellent views, lots of fresh air and dramatic cloudscapes, and rock climbing for some of our extra active-hours time! I think I'll cook us up a bit of supper; who wants some sausages, tomatoes, nice crispy bacon...?

Mm, I'll have supper! Wait, I'm still not sure about the backstory - ARE we being followed, or is our journey set in a different, safer time?

At any rate, I'm always upset watching the movies when they cook food they don't get to eat - noooo :)
