April Challenge

Hi Everyone!

Congratulations to all on the March challenge - I hope everyone has now recovered from their sea legs and is firmly back on dry land...

The time has come for the April challenge, where the plan is to mix things up a bit (going by the comments in the last post). Not just a mileage challenge this month, but also a time challenge of hours spent being active - whether walking, crossfit, netball matches, yoga, swimming, vigorous wedding disco dancing ... whatever gets you moving!

You can choose to target either active hours only, or miles only, or both...

For example, this month I shall be aiming for 20 active hours and also 20 miles run (or rather jogged, given my usual pace). So if I spend an hour jogging five miles, I can count this either as an hour of the active hours target or 5 miles on the mileage target (not both).

And don't worry - we'll still have something to aim for to make things a little more interesting! (I have some things in mind depending on how many miles and hours we end up with (*insert evil laugh here*)

If you want to join this highly exciting but as yet undisclosed April challenge, please sign up in the comments below with:

(a) Your target hours of activity ; and/or
(b) Your target miles of running.

And if you want to join up as a supernumerary (I like that term!), so have your own target but not have it count in the challenge, then also sign up in comments.

I like the active hours idea--I've been good about running lately but slacking off on cross-training. So my goal is 80 miles running + 8 non-running hours.

I'm going to aim for a cautious

(a) 3.5 hours of walking
(b) 20.5 miles running

Well done for being able to incorporate wishes for this challenge!

Let's see. This month I am targeting:

(a) 10 active hours (cross-training), and
(b) 20 miles of running (ramping back up, post-injury etc.)

My goal in running is going to be 150km again (sorry, I don't do miles).

And I'll aim for an additional 20h of non-running activity (need to amp up the climbing and circuit training anyway, might as well put a number to it...)

I like the idea of active hours aside from running, too.

So: 110 for running and 8 hours for other cross training/yoga.

As I don't know yet when I'll be allowed to be active yet and in which form, I'll go for supernumerary this month. Though I did walk a bit yesterday ;)

Wheee! Thank you for taking over for April! I love the idea of time and mileage together.

OK for April, I'm going to run 185 miles (only 15 more than March, or .5 mile/day)

In addition to that, I will sign up for 20 hours of active time. This will include swimming, core exercises, biking downtown, and walks. It will also include any sword cuts (I'm trying to get up to 300 a day) and other weapon practice I do on my own. I'm not including aikido class here because that seems like a cop out. Yes, it's active cross training, but I don't have to think about it or self motivate to do it, I just show up and then get chucked around by guys in skirts until someone yells to stop.

70 miles, plus 8 additional (non-running) hours of activity.

Thanks for organizing us for April!

I'm not sure when I'll be cleared to run again (but on the bright side, the kidney surgery is done! so it should be some time in the next month!), so I will go for hours only.

I'd like to aim for 10 hours of activity this month. 5 of those hours will probably be yoga class, but that leaves another 5 whole hours to fill with intermittent exercise (or drop-in yoga classes *grin*).

For reasons of Lots of Other Things Going On This Month, I'm going to drop down to 150 miles run. But I will also sign up for 4 hours of Getting My Core Work On.

on the advice of my better half, if i am not counting aikido class, then I should drop activity down to 8 hours for the month. sorry for any confusion :-)

so it's 2 hours a week of swimming, biking, and core. that sounds a lot more doable!, total 8 hours...

Because my better half reminded me that I haven't checked in here yet, I'm going to aim for 150 miles run, plus 20 hours of riding the commuter bike and swimming!
