GPS wackiness

Just had to share this....

When I was in Boston early this month, I got in a run along the Charles River. I started on the Boston side and crossed over to Cambridge on the Monsignor O'Brien Highway bridge, then ran along the river to MIT, crossed back over on the Harvard Bridge, and ran back to the start... about 4.7 miles total. But Wahoo Fitness, for some reason, told me I'd run 11.73 miles.

I just uploaded that workout to MapMyRun, and this is what it thinks my route looked like:

ROFLOL!! I was just clicking around in MapMyRun when you posted this, and was also experiencing, um, inaccuracies. Apparently, I never left my living room in 40 minutes of running? I don't even own a treadmill!

Mystery solved on my end. Intermittently dying batteries in my wireless mouse. Didn't find the problem until the next time I had to *click*click*click* in quick succession (next instance was for a silly, mindless java game of matching up "marbles", on yahoo!games). It just happened to coincide.

May all our technical glitches be so amusing! Thanks for sharing the moment here.
