Check-in
Hi Runners,
It's been a while since we had aWeekly Monthly Update...
Hope all is going well with you. I've managed to not post 2 race reports in the last month and I'm gearing up for the Silvesterlauf (New Year's Eve Run) here and then no races until March. How is the training going? How was/is your season? Any good tips for surviving the cold and dark winter here in the northern hemisphere?
(In case anyone's still interested, I managed to finish the Frankfurt Marathon in 4:16 after hitting the wall hard around km 34. Until then, I was exactly on track for my goal of 4:10. This was still an improvement of 12 minutes over my first marathon, but I was feeling so good in the first 27 km, that the utter misery of those last 8 really took me by surprise.)

But yay marathon PR! That's a mighty speedy marathon even with the 8K of hurt. :)

Argh, stupid cold (sick, not temps) got me out of running for weeks + have been busy with moving. Have only run once in the last 3 weeks :(
I love my Under Armour Frosty Tights, they are excellent for winter. And I bought a preeeetty heather Newline running jacket for below-freezing temps, but so far I've just worn it during the day, because it's so pretty and soft and warm - oh, and has super-long sleeves that fit me \o/
I hope to get back into the habit of running this week!

My training is going well for my goal race, the Houston Marathon in mid-January. I'm running a lot and feeling good. My big news, though, is that I ran a 10K on Saturday and not only did I PR with a time of 43:06 (which I still have a hard time believing!) but I came in 3rd overall among the women, and won my age group. Very happy about this! Race report to be posted soon in my journal.
My other news is that I am "streaking" - I didn't exactly plan it, but I just started running every day back in early November, and I am now up to 23 days in a row!

I've resumed regular training six weeks ago and so far have managed to run once every week. Usually on Sundays, which have been either cold and dry or mild and wet. I'm pleased with my progress and hope motivation will keep up.
