After a visit to the sports physio on Monday and having my bum ankle jerked about, I tried running on Wednesday and was unable to. At follow-up yesterday, PT claimed it was just inflamed, but otherwise fixed, and as soon as the inflammation goes down, it'll be all better.
I am less than convinced. But I'm going along with it, and taking lots of ibuprofen this weekend and not exercising (I don't feel like putting pressure on my ankle, so it's not even a hardship).
In short I have downgraded my mileage goal. It definitely feels like cheating, but I don't need the stress of an unattainable goal, or messing up the ankle more trying to make up as much of it as possible. Depending on how the ankle feels around the middle of next week, I may downgrade goal further.
All very depressing, let's not talk any more about it :)
