September challenge
I offered to host for September, and I propose we run the entire length of the Welsh coast. The path is 870 miles or 1400 km end to end, and it includes some of the most beautiful places in Britain.
If we keep going as we have we'll probably cover more than 1400 km in September. So, a poll on how to continue if we run out of Welsh coast:
The NW England route involves running from Chester on the river Dee past Liverpool, around the Lancashire coast and eventually into Cumbria and the Lake district if we get that far. Really varied landscape, some gorgeous beaches, some big cities, and up into the mountains in the last stretch. Somewhere around 200 miles to the Scottish border, but we can keep going even into Scotland if we get really keen! The Devon and Cornwall peninsula route involves starting from Chepstow at the mouth of the Wye, crossing the Severn (let's pretend we can do that on foot) and then along the coast of the peninsula, which is a similar landscape to the South Wales coast and if we keep going we get to Land's End and possibly even on round the south coast. Approx 250 miles to Land's End I think, but in either case I will calculate the distance properly once I have numbers, there isn't a set path for the whole route as in Wales. Offa's Dyke is the historical (but not exactly the modern) border between England and Wales and is 285 km long; if we complete the entire loop round Wales I'll put up another poll for where we continue on from there.
Oh, and please comment with your goals for September! I'm aiming for 40 km and 30 hours.
