Check-in
Hi Runners!
How's your summer going? Training, races, beating the heat (or cold, or wind, or rain, or plagues of locusts) ?
Here's a question for you - what's the craziest thing you signed up for and did? How did it go?
And here's a poll along that theme - vote now on whether or not I should sign up for my first Ironman triathlon

And I guess that's the craziest thing I've ever signed up for: the Imogene Pass Run, 7 miles (plus two blocks) from Ouray (7810 ft) to Telluride (8820 ft), over 13,120 foot Imogene Pass. That's over 5000 vertical feet up in 10 miles, followed by over 4000 feet down in 7 miles, most of it on a rough and rocky 4WD road. I've done it three times now (missed it last year due to my metatarsal stress fracture) and the race report from the first year, when I brought a camera along, is here: Imogene Pass Run: the most fun I've ever had while wanting to throw up!

Not so much with the racing due to lack of training. It hasn't been obnoxiously hot here yet.
The craziest thing would be my half marathon in spring - I so want to get in shape to do another, but I'm glad I'm being realistic and waiting until I'm in as least as good shape as I was in spring. Even though I want to do one nooow.
How many of us here are truly qualified to judge whether you should participate, and aren't just going to go, "Yay, do it!" :D ?

I'm doing short treadmill runs and feel like I maybe getting stronger at running, but I'm still only running 2-3x a week, which makes it hard to see any gains quickly.
I guess Alcatraz is the craziest thing I signed up for so far. I did it! Not fast, mind you, but it got done.
