cyphomandra: fractured brooding landscape (Default)

Hi all,

I did the half marathon in 2h 3 min and change - about a minute faster than last year, but, as I expected, still over two hours. (next year! shakes tiny fist of determination and resolves to track down the book [personal profile] ilanarama mentioned earlier). This time round at least I had my Garmin forerunner, and the record from that will hopefully help with training for all the hills I'd forgotten about from my previous go.

Making the whole weekend into an extended run/holiday (I stayed on with friends for a couple of days) worked really well. One of my running group was doing New York on similar principles - she flew in from NZ, her sister was flying in from France, and they were both going to run NY and then stay on for two weeks. Sounds great!

[personal profile] ilanarama, I hope your calf's doing okay - mine sorted itself out with lots of stretching, fortunately.

With regard to winter - I like running when it's not too warm - now's fine, because it's getting light again, but the summer (Jan/Feb) gets a bit oppressive. I think my next major event will be April/May, so I might try out some other cooler forms of exercise over summer. Hope all you northern hemisphere types are coping with the opposite problem...
