Hello,

I am looking for advice on training software/websites/widgets/whatever. I care more about planning my training than logging it, most of the time, and I'd prefer a website I can log into, so that I can access it from multiple places. I don't have any of them there newfangled mobile devices.

Ideally, I'd like it to be some sort of calendar, where I can say "I have a race on Date X, and I am currently running X km" and have it calculate a reasonable training progression. I'd also like to be able to say "I was sick! I missed a week!" and have it recalculate. And if I could schedule other workouts, that would be lovely. I care mostly about scheduling running, but it would be great if I could also add other spots--yoga classes, weight training, cycling...

Obviously I can (and currently do) do all this on a regular calendar by hand, but it would be nice to have software/a website to do it for me, and that would make it easier to play around with different scenarios, too. Googling, so far, has produced lots of weightloss websites, training *logs*, and fancy subscription-only sites that don't offer much of a preview. I am not entirely opposed to paying money for this, but would of course prefer something free.

Suggestions?

Happy Monday runners!

How is your spring training going? I'm still in training for the Eagleman 1/2 Ironman in (eeep!) just under 6 weeks!

My runs have been feeling less than stellar lately and suddenly I realized that I've been running in the same shoes since sometime last July...so that precipitated a trip out to the local running store (laufshop) and as I was going through the various shoes I usually wear (and have been wearing for more than 20 years give or take some ill-fated forays into stability shoes) the very perceptive saleswoman asked why I always wear BRANDX. Then she looked down at my long narrow feet and immediately understood.

And she came back with a pair of Brooks in a narrow width! For the first time ever I get to wear a really nice pair of Brooks. No one ever told me before that you could even get narrow width running shoes! (They just all sent me to Nike BRANDX and I had to take what they offered, with essentially no other choices)

What's your favorite shoe or other piece of gear? Or, what was one thing that really surprised you when you tried it?

And of course, what have you been up to this week? Any races in your near future?
